Öğe Cranial mr venography findings of severe hypernatremic dehydration in association with cerebral venous thrombosis in the neonatal period(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2007) Duran, Ridvan; Aladag, Nukhet; Vatansever, Uelfet; Temizoz, Osman; Genchallac, Hakan; Acunas, BetulSevere neonatal hypernatremia is an important electrolyte disorder that has serious effects on the central nervous system, including brain edema, intracranial hemorrhage, hemorrhagic infarct, and thrombosis. Cerebral venous thrombosis is relatively rare in severe neonatal hypernatremic dehydration. The English literature contains only a few reports of the cranial radiological findings in severe neonatal hypernatremia. The authors report cranial MR venography findings of a newborn infant with severe hypernatremic dehydration. To the best of their knowledge, this is the first such report in the English literature.Öğe Dermatofibroma mimicking malignancy on integrated F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose PET-CT(Turkish Soc Radiology, 2009) Demir, Mustafa Kemal; Ozdemir, Huseyin; Genchallac, Hakan; Altaner, Semsi; Kartal, OezcanA 31-year-old female with a history of ovarian cancer underwent an F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) scan. The PET-CT demonstrated focal nodular uptake in the subcutaneous tissue of the back adjacent to the paraspinal muscles. Color Doppler ultrasonography examination demonstrated a vascular solid mass. The patient underwent biopsy followed by excision. The pathologic diagnosis was dermatofibroma. Although benign, dermatofibromas can have intense FDG uptake.Öğe MRI Findings in Biliary Cystadenoma(Modestum Ltd, 2014) Can, Guray; Tuncel, Sedat Alpaslan; Genchallac, Hakan; Puyan, Fulya Oz; Ibis, CemBiliary cystadenoma is a rare cystic hepatic neoplasm. We herein present a 44 year-old female patient with biliary cystadenoma focusing on difficulties in diagnosis because of lack of specific findings with imaging, and the need for surgery. As biliary cystadenomas have high recurrence risks and malignant transformation potential, careful follow-up should not be underestimated. Proper surgical resection of the lesion may be considered the most suitable diagnostic and therapeutic procedure, and prognosis is generally excellent after removal of the tumor.Öğe Pulmonary involvement in brucellosis(Aves Yayincilik, Ibrahim Kara, 2007) Batmaz, Emrah; Edis, Ebru Cakir; Ciftci, Abdullah; Akkoyun, Sevin; Hatipoglu, Osman N.; Genchallac, HakanBrucellosis is a zoonotic disease caused by a Gramnegative bacillus of the Brucella gender. Involvement is multisystemic primarily affecting the reticuloendothelial system, joints, heart, and kidneys. Although the disease can be spread by inhalation, pulmonary involvement is rare. A 72-year-old female patient presented with complaints of chest pain and shortness of breath. She was admitted with a preliminary diagnosis of pneumonia. She did not respond to antibiotic therapy. Computed tomography performed for the differential diagnosis of pulmonary embolism showed no evidence for thrombus, but ground glass opacities in the lingular segment of the left lung, the right middle lobe, and bilateral lower lobes. Specific antibiotic therapy Was started upon detection of Brucella spp. by hemoculture. The patient's pain disappeared and no sign of venous thromboembolism was observed.
