Öğe The Effects of Time of Watching Television and Food Advertisements on Nutritional Status of Preschool Children(Galenos Publ House, 2023) Ozturkler Cakir, Utku Begum; Duran, Sedef; Can, Seher; Sahin, Erkan MelihAim: Watching television for a long time affects the nutrition of children, and the effect of orientation on these foods is quickly seen in children watching food advertisements. The aim of this study was to determine the nutritional status and television viewing time of children aged 3-4 and 5 years, to examine the effect of food advertisements on the nutritional status of children, and to determine how this effect impacted the nutrient intake of children. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted with 215 adult parents who volunteered to collect information about children in order to determine the nutritional status and television watching time of 3-4 and 5 -year -old children studying in a kindergarten in Edirne city center and to evaluate these situations. Children's socio-demographic characteristics, anthropometric measurements, food consumption frequency and food consumption records, nutrition and television watching habits were evaluated. Results: It was found that 49.8% of children watched television for 2-3 hours a day on average, and 36.7% demanded the food they saw in food advertisements 1-2 times a week. A positive and significant relationship was determined between the fact that the food advertisements on the television attracted the attention of children and the frequency of the children wanting the food they saw in the advertisements, like acidic beverages, fruit juice, chips, chocolate, wafers, sweets, biscuits and crackers (p<0.05). Daily energy intake, the percentage of carbohydrates in the food pattern, and daily sugar consumption were found to be higher in children who paid attention to food advertisements compared to those who did not (p<0.05). It was determined that the consumption of chocolate, wafer, soda and fruit juice increased as the television viewing time increased (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result, television viewing time and food advertisements on television can be effective on children's food choices and thus their nutritional status.Öğe Farklı starter kültürlerin ilavesi ile elde edilen telemenin höşmerim kalitesine olan etkisinin belirlenmesi üzerine bir araştırma(Trakya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2007) Can, Seher; Öksüz, ÖmerBu araştırmada; yapımında yöresel farklılıklar gösteren höşmerimin ana hammaddesi olan ve farklı starter kültürlerin ilavesi ile elde edilen telemenin son ürünün kalitesine olan etkisinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. 2007, Sayfa 75 Anahtar Kelimeler: Höşmerim (Peynir Helvası), Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis, Lactococcus lactis. subsp cremoris, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Streptococcus filant, Streptococcus thermophilus, Brevibacterium linens.Öğe The impact of generalized joint hypermobility on eating behavior of students: A case-control study(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Can, Seher; Tuna, FilizObjective To investigate the impact of generalized joint hypermobility (GJH) on eating behavior. Participants Physical therapy and rehabilitation students. Methods The Beighton evaluation (a cutoff of 5/9) for defining GJH. The Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-40) was used for eating disorders. Smoking habits and alcohol use were also questioned. Results Compared with 51 non-GJH students (mean age 20.5 years, 73% female), 46 students with asymptomatic GJH (20.6 years, 89% female) were more likely to have greater median EAT-40 scores (9 vs. 6, p = .002). There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of the susceptibility to eating behavior disorders (6.5% vs. 2.0%), smoking habits (6.5% vs. 9.8%), and alcohol use (15.2% vs. 11.8%) (p > .05). Positive correlation (r = .221, p = .029) and positive effect (R = 0.221, R-2 = 0.049; p < .05) between Beighton scores and EAT-40 scores were found. Conclusion The more joint hypermobility the greater the risk for eating disorders.
