Öğe Kocaeli Romanlarında Geçiş Dönemi: Ölüm(Trakya Üniversitesi, 2021) Ataman Polat, EylemThe death period, which is the last phase of the transition periods of folklore, wasexamined in the lives of Romans of Kocaeli. The elements that determine the traces of Roman culture in daily life, its practices and its interaction with other neighboring cultures, beliefs, traditions, customs and ceremonies and their findings were evaluated with the death event. A field study was conducted in Akçakayran, Kozluk, Serdar and Tavşantepe neighbourhoods in Izmit and Kandıra districts within the boundary of Kocaeli province, and resource person interviews wererecorded. It was determined that the resource people know and use the Roman language. It was identified that the Romans living in these neighborhoods and showing seasonal nomadic characteristics bear the cultural and religious traces of the places they passed through, and are devoted to the Alevi and Sunni beliefs. It was observed that different implementations and practices are shaped according to beliefs and places of migration.
